日本へようこそ (Welcome to Japan)

A couple months ago when E came home from work and said, "I might have the opportunity to go to Japan. Is that something we want to do?" I practically jumped up and down saying Yes Yes Yes! But I never really thought we'd get to go. Last year he was offered a chance to go to China, but that fell through. So when he came home 2 weeks ago and said that we were leaving for Japan in a week and a half I was rather stunned. I know nothing about Japan. I was so not prepared for a month long trip in a country where I don't know the culture, language, or traditions. I spent the week before we left watching YouTube videos and reading everything I could about being an unprepared American in Tokyo. I'm going to try to blog everyday about my experiences here in Yokohama Japan!

Who looks better after 18+ hours of travel?

The flight here was brutal! If anyone is planning a trip across the Pacific ocean, save every penny you can and upgrade to a business class seat. It will be worth every single dollar. We did not plan accordingly, and were thus stuck in cattle class, aka economy. You know how uncomfortable you are on that 2 hour flight to Florida shoved in the middle of 2 strangers? Yeah...try doing that for 13 hours. I had a sleeping beauty on my right (seriously slept 13 hours straight), E on my left, then a Japanese business man beside him. I've never felt so trapped. Thank god I have experience with holding my bodily functions for about 13 hours. Don't get me wrong, the service was great. The flight attendants were so kind and provided us with anything we needed. We got 2 surprisingly really yummy meals, a snack, and at least 6 drink passes. You even get free beer and wine in economy on a long haul flight! Our flight in chased the sun. Meaning that as we flew over our country and over the ocean we were consistently in sunlight, no nighttime at all. Invest in an eye mask. Landing in Narita I was absolutely giddy, simply because I couldn't wait to stand up!

Our plane was huge! Over 400 people were crammed in there! 2 skywalks to enter/exit.

We had about an hour and a half trip to our hotel from Narita to Yokohama. Not a bad ride at all and had some great scenery. We drove right past Tokyo Disney too!

Reading from right to left, and up to down. Weird, but she kept flicking her hair and it smelled AHMAZING

First views of Tokyo!

Seatbelts on a bus, imagine that?

Rice fields

Driving here is like it is in Britain. Just imagine doing the complete opposite of what we do. So glad I won't be driving anywhere!

Beautiful Yokohama Bay Bridge

Our home away from home for the next month, Yokohama, Japan!
Our hotel is the white sail like building in the middle of the landscape.
